With a full-time job, I have limited poetry-related bandwidth and have greater availability in the first half of the year. I am focusing on paid speaking engagements and editor/publisher interest in my work at this time.

Educator: I have taught graduate, undergraduate, and adult poetry workshops at University of San Francisco, the Ohio State University, Kenyon College, various arts organizations, and in the community.

Speaker/Reader: I have been a featured reader at UC Berkeley, Southern Exposure, Portland Book Festival, Miami Book Fair, LA Times Festival of Books, Litquake, Kearny Street Workshop’s APATure literary showcase, St. Louis Poetry Center, Mission Creek Festival, Berkeley Art Museum, Headlands Center for the Arts, and Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco. I have delivered talks at Sarah Lawrence College, St. Mary’s College, and Minnesota State University at Mankato.

A list of my classes and class visit topics:

  • All About As She Appears: I discuss the craft, themes, and inspiration for my debut poetry collection, moving through art and nature spaces, to queer Asian American joy, wonder, and possibility.

  • The Road to Being A Debut Poet: I share my journey as a (relatively older) debut poet, getting an MFA in my early 30s, writing with a full-time university staff day job, attending workshops, going on residencies, never giving up, and publishing with a small press.

  • How to Submit to Poetry Book Contests

  • How to Apply to Grants, Fellowships, and Residencies (Poets & Writers 2023 article)

  • Asian American Poetry: I’m a fourth-generation Chinese American poet from California who previously interned and worked at Center for Asian American Media, Asian American Writers Workshop, and Museum of Chinese in America. I am a Kundiman fellow and part of the Bay Area Asian American literary community.
